Since 2002 to 2011 Brunata has successfully fulfilled for Sofia District Heating Company the following projects for delivery of substations, dismounting of existing substations, preparatory work in substations' rooms, installation, adjustment and commissioning of substations. The listed below projects has been financed by EBRD, KIDSF and WB:
- EBRD 2/02: Supply of 925 district heating substations and associated services /Lot 1, Lot 2, Lot 3/
- EBRD 6/03: Supply of 2 619 district heating substations and associated services /Lot 1, Lot 2, Lot 3/
- WB 5/03: Supply of heat insulation and additional services for overhead pipelines /Lot 3/
- WB 16/06: Delivery of preinsulated steel pipes and fittings /Lot 2/
- EBRD 9/06: Supply of 2 588 district heating substations and associated services /Lot 1, Lot 2, Lot 3/
- WB 23/07: Supply of 1 400 watermeters /Lot 2/
- EBRD 10/07: Supply of 1 030 district heating substations and associated services /Lot 2, Lot 3, Lot 4/
- EBRD 12/10: Supply of 1 915 district heating substations and associated services /Lot 1, Lot 2, Lot 3, Lot 4, Lot 5/
In result of completed projects Brunata helped the Bulgarian capital Sofia to rehabilitate its district heating system, realising energy savings worth millions of Euro and helping provide the citizens with a more efficient heat service during cold winter months. By upgrading and rehabilitating existing infrastructure, Sofia reduced its energy consumption for district heating by more than 20 percent.
Sofia is the capital and largest city of Bulgaria with a population of around 1.2 million people.
The district heating system of Sofia incudes four power plants (two CHPs and two boiler stations) providing heat to 900 000 residents. The system dates back to 1949.
